Desertification / Lop Nur, China

Climate change and lack of water lead to desertification, natural disaster, war and extinction along the Silk Road. Inspired by a traditional water transportation system, ‘Karez’ towers were built to process to pump up underground salt water around the Taklamakan desert and apply water desalination treatment for settlements inside a limited supply radius. Developed as multi-function tower units these are spread along the G-Road.
